My Christmas Shortbreads

Teacup decorated with a spoon-shaped shortbread cookies for a festive time Cookie cutters Städter

In the afternoon, I play with my new cookie cutters found at "Mamie Gâteaux" ("Granny Cakes") in Paris.

At tea time, place a small spoon on each cup that you will enjoy enough to eat !
Then hang a few biscuits on a forest scented garland for a gourmet Christmas decoration.

Here's the recipe :

In a bowl, soften 125 grams of butter in the microwave oven or double boiler. Add 125 grams of powdered sugar, mix well. Stir in 1 egg, a pinch of salt and 250 grams of flour. Knead the dough into a ball and place in fridge for a few minutes.
Preheat oven to 150 degrees (Gas 5).
Roll the dough with a rolling pin on a sheet of parchment paper. Cut out shapes using your cookie cutters and remove excess dough.
Before baking brush them with 1 egg yolk (mixed with a little bit of water and sugar) using a brush.
Bake for 10-15 minutes (depending on thickness of the shortbreads.)
Watch shortbreads and remove from oven once they begin to brown.
