Old linen

Such joy Sunday morning when I found these two old sheets with a thickness and color that capsize my little heart.
I think they will make curtains to drape my bedroom window.

The old armoire, found some time ago, received a “white chalk” patina... it serves as a backdrop to present these valuable pieces of cloth.
I could not resist that old vintage metal flask, still containing “Lilas de France” from Pinaud (Place Vendôme - Paris).

The grape harvest

September is the beginning of the grape harvest and the moment to taste
delicious bunches of chasselas... they are my favorite.

Small lucky finds on the theme of the grape enables me to offer you this seasonal decoration.
Embossed metal, cut to form a delicate frame for a gently colored image of the Virgin and Child.
A small collection carafe stoppers are posed higgledy-piggledy in a bowl cut from “Maisons du Monde” store.
A cover and a bowl of clear, cut glass with patterns of grapes, branches, leaves and tendrils.

The old mechanism

My husband who works in architecture is always surprised by my lucky finds because very often he does not see the use that I can make of my small discoveries ; because for him, it is necessary that the things are
useful, they must have a purpose.

But you should have seen his reaction when I pulled this dismantled old mechanism of an old alarm clock out of my bag.
I’m quite sure that the majority of you, girls, could describe to me the same experiences or reactions... isn’t that so ?

And yet, isn’t this useless object beautiful ?
It doesn’t have hands, ok, but that doesn’t take away from its delicate old dial, its enamel, its calligraphy numbering...
Look at how the number “7” is drawn; it is funny ; it is like a “2” the wrong way round.

Just like this rusted box filled with “small copper nails” on which the writing with a feather pen attracted me and brought a lot of emotion.
I imagine a person writing these same letters on a small paper circle, then pasting it on the box so as not to lose the “precious” contents (which are still inside).
My husband sees the nails as unimportant because for him, nails... he sees every day (smile).

A eucalyptus leaf like a heart planted on wire reminds our husbands that our passion isn’t expensive, though we could claim them to be beautiful jewels !
As the value of things does not depend inevitably on their price...

But it’s not impossible to hope for both ! ;-)

Lavender sugar

This should have been a vacation task.
Yes, I know I have not been very diligent during the summer holidays.

With a portion of my lavender harvest, I decided to prepare sugar scented with lavender to flavor tea, yogurt and other sweets.
In preparation we must ensure that the lavender has not been chemically treated, of course.

Take sugar, granulated or powdered; mix lavender flowers (stems removed) with the sugar, then place in a bottle of your choice, sealed with a stopper and decorated according to your mood.
Remember to remove the lavender with a sieve or colander before consumption.

Lavender harvest

True happiness is to sort stems of lavender into small bundles of all sizes and then arrange them in old pigeon baskets.

Since the true pleasure is to imagine perfumed bags filling closets with fragrance and to think of other uses of this precious harvest, I do not delay confiding in you.

Communion memory

The young girls, of the 19th century, made their first communion dressed in white : a long dress, a veil and a pretty crown of white flowers.

The crown was made of lightly starched fabric flowers ; the one I found has faded into a delicious ecru.

Also found at a flea market, this one of pink fabric, assembled into a brooch.

The blue nest

Like the bird that builds its nest with what it finds during its flight...
I too build a decoration with some objects found in a flea market, like this batch of zinc pots, with a patina like this gray dove and this old carved door of a wall cupboard.

Without forgetting this small nest made with blue tie bands, which I found hidden in bushes near a vineyard. These tie bands are used most often to attach shoots of vines.
As nature sometimes makes things well : any object can be recycled.
